What a wonderful place to see the world's big cats in their natural habitats without all the glitz of a full zoo. We loved our visit here and it really makes you feel for these big creatures. They are magnificent, beautiful, graceful, and we owe them everything we have to treat them with the utmost of respect - and that's what Cedar Grove does for them! The place is a true sanctuary for these cats (and wolves too)!!! And we highly recommend visiting Saturday before 3 for the 4pm feeding. Or before 1 for the 2pm feeding on Sunday. It's an unforgettable sight to see these beautiful animals get fed!! A+ experience!!
Such a cool place, if I could give more than 5 stars, I would! I suggest you come around feeding time if you want to see some excitement. Funny how big cats act just like domesticated cats near feed time lol. The volunteers are passionate about the cause they are supporting and despite some other reviewers complaints, I did not feel like they were being preachy in any way. The reality is that humans have taken over the big cats' habitats and their dwindling numbers are a direct result of choices we have made as a species. If my $8 helps awareness even in the tiniest amount, it is the best 8 bucks i have ever spent.
Good work by good people, but book a private tour or come early, we couldn't hear over the private group talking.
A wonderful non-profit rescue run by unpaid volunteers. I am so happy to visit and learn the stories of how their animals came to them. Very educational.
Soooo. The cats are great and I was hoping to actually learn about the animals themselves not the personal views of our tour guide. I personally don't agree with circus performing animals but our tour guide went on and on and on about how much we as a human race are terrible people. It was more the delivery of statements. For example she said "we got this tiger a couple years ago from a facility is South Carolina who also takes care of big cats. The usda told them this cat had to leave. Now I'm not saying they weren't taking care of them but she had worms." It was statements like this over and over again. Breeding isn't bad but.... then she would state her opinion. Everything was it's not so bad but.... so instead of learning facts about the tiger she was more interested in telling us what's bad about every other facility out there. Even said "you know when you go to the zoo and you have a really bad feeling when you leave, you know how you feel like you are a bad person?" Really?!? I understand we need to protect our large predators that's why we came thought we could support a good cause and learn more about larger cats. Then she turned around and talked about how they took cats to worlds of fun for a ride opening. How is that not exploiting? Would have rather been able to learn about ways we can help as opposed to telling us how everything else is bad. So the cats themselves a 5. The potential to lean about the animals 5. Supporting a good cause 5. Our tour guide with continually gripes and in depth complaints a 0.
